James Holden Debunks Ibiza's Magic

Highbrow dance don James Holden chatted to Skrufff this week about his upcoming gigs in Ibiza and revealed that he's not anticipating any mystical moments or revelations.

"I'm not a believer in magic at all - people's brains are machines for spotting and forming patterns where there are none, which explains why people like to believe in religion, Russell Grant, destiny and whatever else; it's chaos, there is no pattern, but it's comforting to believe in one," the Oxford University graduate claimed.

"I'm sure science doesn't know everything, and it's important to see that spirituality is different from religion, but believing our lives are anything more than random seems like a flight of arrogance," James suggested.

The no nonsense Border Community chief also revealed he's less than impressed with DJs using computer mix programmes like Ableton declaring 'Ableton's fine for live performance, but I'm a DJ'.

"A few people's Ableton live-shows are better than seeing a DJ, but DJing with Ableton is like riding the Tour de France on an electric powered bike with stabilisers," he scoffed.

"I am planning on starting to take more gear with me when I DJ, for example, a laptop as an FX processor this year and more next year, but in the meantime I thinkI can do almost as much as I'd like to with the CDJ1000s," he laughed.
