Byrne and Cook Take To the Stage

March is set to deliver a belated Christmas present to anyone out there who is a fan of Fatboy Slim, David Byrne or Imelda Marcos. The nightlife loving first lady of the Phillippines will have her life portrayed through the magic of musical theatre with a performance titled Here Lives Love premiering at the Adelaide Arts Festival. With past performances at the festival by the Netherlands Opera and the Prague Chamber Orchestra the next logical step was featuring a pop star produced musical about a controversial politician's wife.

In charge of the music for this groundbreaking event is former Talking Heads front man, David Byrne who will be expertly assisted by the man whose career has taken him from the world of Brit-pop all the way to DJing mammoth beach parties in front of thousands of screaming big beat fans, Norman Cook (better known as Fatboy Slim). This dance music collaboration isn't the first for Byrne who earlier this decade released an immensely popular single with British pop/house trio X-Press 2 who have coincidentally, or not, previously released on Skint Records, a label that helped to launch Fatboy Slim's career. Playing the part of Imelda Macros will be Australian born, New York based hip hop artist Dana Diaz-Tutaan who along with her outfit APSCI is signed to DJ Shadow's Quannum label.

Here Lives Love will be open at the Adelaide Arts Festival from the 9th to the 14th of March before heading off to the USA and Europe. (Nick Lawrence)
