Re-living the Joy Twenty-five Years On

More than 25 years after they disbanded, British band Joy Division have announced that they will head back into the studio. This time the band won't be making an album but will instead be recording new material to appear on a movie depicting the life of Joy Division's former frontman Ian Curtis. At the age of 23 Curtis commited suicide by hanging himself at his home in Macclesfield, not only ending his own life but also the life of the band. While the remaining members of the band did join forces with Gillian Gilbert to form the now famed New Order, they never again recorded together as Joy Division.

That is of course until now as Curtis' wife, Deborah, has given the green light to a script for the film that will enter into production sometime next year. Joy Division will reportedly be in charge of the soundtrack which will be made up of new and old material alike. This will be the second film in recent years to feature the band with part of their story being told in the 2002 film '24 Hour Party People'. The new film however will be Bernard, Peter and Stephen's first foray into the world of producing soundtracks.
