Love Parade is Cancelled for Another Year

In an announcement bound to upset party lovers all over Europe the organisers of Germany's Berlin Love Parade have said that this year the event will not take place again after no agreement was reached with sponsors giving the organisers no choice but to stop planning this years event. Following on from last years cancellation for the same reasons the event has continually struggled to produce enough funds to cover the spiralling costs of putting on the parade since it lost it's status as a demonstration in 2001. This problem has been compounded by the country's deteriorating economic situation and the reluctance of potential commercial sponsors to commit the large budgets required to support the Love Parade.

A spokesman for the organisers said: "We very much regret that it is not possible for us to stage the Berlin Love Parade this year. We will do everything we can, via constructive dialogue with the State of Berlin and representatives of the economy and the media, to reach a solution which will enable the popular Berlin Parade to return in the year of the Football World Cup," announced the organisers. "If all those involved pull in the same direction and continue to be open for dialogue, the Love Parade will be back in its hometown in 2006."

Love Parade's will take place however internationally continuing from the success at Berlin inspired events in San Francisco, Tel Aviv, Acapulco and Santiago. The organisation is going to announce a new make up of the management within a few weeks. Fabien Lenz, the founding director left at the end of last year.
